Campagna 41-45 - Mazzocco (JAP) vs Roccia (allied)

Finalmente ieri ho chiuso il turno, ecco le scelte che ho fatto nelle altre aree:

• Cina: ho impostato ad OFF tutte le riparazioni nelle città industriali. I rifornimenti già scarsi mi servono per le truppe in questo momento! Offensiva in tutto il settore centrale costiero dove i jap sono più sguarniti e su Ichang. Da Mindanao sono arrivati 16 B17: preferisco usarli in ground attach in Cina che vederli distrutti al suolo in poco tempo nelle Filippine.
• Australia: messo ad OFF tutta la produzione delle industrie pesanti per non drenare prezioso fuel. Priorità alle navi sia mercantili che militari. Ne passerà di tempo prima che il flusso di fuel dagli USA sia costante ed assicurato.
• Luzon: alcune unità muoveranno a Nord per controbattere ad un eventuale sbarco jap e far pagare un pedaggio più alto. Non ho intenzione di ritirarmi su Bataan tanto presto: è una trappola per topi! Ho creato 4 missioni con due SS ognuno per minare alcuni porti sia Jap che Alleati ma destinati ad essere investiti a breve dai jap come Miri.
• Costa USA: partita da San Diego la Saratoga direzione PH, dove rifornirà e andrà a presidiare il Pacifico Centrale. Destinerò all'Oceano Indiano la Hornet in arrivo tra tre mesi sulla costa orientale USA.
• PH: tutto è pronto per difendersi da un secondo attacco della KidoButai. La Lexinton proseguirà per Wake dove preleverà i caccia della marina li dislocati (inutile perderli, ne ho bisogno sulle CV) mentre l'Enterprise navigherà verso sud per ora in attesa di capire che farà la KB.
• Per ora tutte le unità da guerra Olandesi, americane e inglesi presenti nel Borneo si riorganizzeranno al riparo dai Betty nemici in attesa di capire dove i convogli jap più esposti agiranno.

 

8 Dicembre 41 - Report

Come temevo Mazzocco ha rinnovato l'attacco a PH.
E' nata una grande battaglia aerea dove i caccia USA si sono fatti onore: a fine giornata la KB ha una ventina di piloti esperti in meno

Ad ogni modo i danni sono stati notevoli, ma non gravi come temevo. Nell'attacco ho perso 2 DD, 1 DM e 1 AV. Tutte le 7 BB risultano nuovamente colpite da bombe e molte altre navi, ieri pienamente operative, risultano danneggiate ma nessuna di esse è in pericolo di affondamento per fortuna.

Da segnalare il siluramento di una petroliera all'imbocco della rada di Manila subito ripagato dal siluramento di una nave cargo jap, destinata a Luzon, carica di truppe da parte dei Catalina.

Considerazioni

Il grosso interrogativo per i prossimi turni è quello che farà la KB. Probabilmente passerà ad est di PH per poi puntare a sud ovest. Non avendo chiara però la sua manovra ho deciso di non far convergere per ora su PH la Lexinton e l'Entrerprise.

Domani nelle Solomon si uniranno l'incrociatore leggero Adelaide con l'incrociatore pesante Luoisville: insieme formeranno la Forza S (da Solomon :contratto e punteranno poi a nord per intercettare i convogli jap diretti probabilmente a Rabaul. Questa forza è l'unica disponibile nell'intera area. Ho alcuni incrociatori partiti ieri da Sidney ma sono molto lontani e temo non arriveranno in tempo!



Il resto delle forze di superficie nella zona del Borneo rimarranno in standby: non ho idea di dove punteranno le forze d'invasione jap.

 

Co laregola di dove mantenere le guarnigioni minime in ogni città, i jap non potranno disporre di molti AV nei primi mesi quindi voglio approfittarne per complicare la vità a Mazzocco e creare confusione nelle retrovie. Alla lunga manterrò un atteggiamento difensivo causa mancananza di rifornimenti, cercando gli scontri la dove il terreno favorisce i difensori.
Mi preoccupa lo strapotere aereo jap che può fare veramente la differenza!

Giornata molto densa di eventi questa a Luzon.
L'aviazione jap supportata dagli Zero ha spazzato i cieli di Manila e Clark Field facendo strage di P40.
I Betty hanno affondato diversi AM in missione sminamento nella baia di Manila.
Inoltre al largo di Iba un piccolo convoglio di cargo provenienti da HK è incappata in una TF nemica.

9 Dicembre 1941 - Considerazioni

Oggi per la mia caccia a Luzon è stata una giornata nera (basta vedere la tabella delle perdite aeree per capirlo). Devo trovare presto il modo di impiegare meglio i miei P40 altrimenti nel giro di pochi giorni non avrò più un aereo disponibile!



Unica nota positiva arriva dai Catalina, che armati di siluro, hanno ottenuto oggi un rate degno della KB (considerando che molti siluri non sono detonati all'urto con le navi avversarie )



Nel resto dei teatri sono in attesa di capire le intenzioni di Mazzocco: per ora ha un atteggiamento molto prudente. Da un lato non concederà molto il fianco a mie incursioni ma dall'altro rallenta l'espansione.
Nel prossimo turno potrebbe già esserci uno scontro nei pressi di Rabaul tra le forze d'invasione jap e la mia Forza S

la sconfitta è utile,rende più forti...!!!
Sarebbe impossibile una vittoria senza perdite o battaglie perse,ora vai e distruggi!

 

Siamo solo al 10 dicembre 41...avrò pur diritto ad essere sconfitto :contratto:

Nel prossimo turno che ho chiuso ieri sera ho provato qualche altra puntata offensiva in Cina e Mindanao giusto per far capire che non me ne andrò nel silenzio della notte!

Inoltre i mezzi insidiosi (PT) a Luzon usciranno per colpire qualche trasporto mentre 4 squadre di due SS ognuna stanno arrivando nei porti di destinazione per minare e creare qualche problema ai mezzi da sbarco jap.

Non ho ancora deciso su come usare la Forza Z: stavo seriamente pernsando di non rischiarla (lasciare solo i CA e CL nel Borneo) e unirla alla US Navy nel Pacifico. A Seattle ho altre due navi da battaglia in riparazione (a breve saranno pienamente operative): unite avrei una discreta forza d'urto nel Pacifico già nel Febbraio '42.

La forza S è riuscita ad intercettare una importante TF, probabilmente con una forza d'invasione destinata a Rabaul. Le navi di scorta jap si sono sacrificate ed i trasporti sfortunatamente ne sono usciti indenni ma i piani di espansione nemici sono stati per lo meno rallentati.
