    Con un fulmineo attacco, le forze alleate prendono possesso della base di Bangkok.

    I giapponesi sono ancora massicciamente presenti in città e servirà ancora qualche giorno per ripulirla, ma la conquista della capitale Tailandese infonde morale ai comandi e alle truppe di tutto il teatro. lo sblocco di questo importante nodo, inoltre, assicurerà l'arrivo di rifornimenti sia in direzione della Cambogia/Vietnam, che nella ancor più importante direttrice che punta verso il sud della Malesia, verso l'importantissimo porto di Singapore, contro cui verrà lanciato il maggior numero di truppe britanniche, una volta che si libereranno dell'incarico di assicurare alle armi alleate il possesso di Bangkok.

    La sensazione è che siano rimasti senza carburante. Erano in ritirata dalla Birmania e sono rimasti nella sacca di Bankok per qualche settimana.
    Poi i carri giapponesi non è che fossero molto performanti. Buoni da usare contro la fanteria, se non equipaggiata di armi anticarro e nel 44 le unità alleate ne avevano in abbondanza.

    La Tailandia sta cadendo nelle mani alleate come una mela matura. Poche unità corazzate, lanciate verso nord e sud continuano ad incontrare solo deboli unità di genieri e avieri.

    Cade Kompong Chhnang in Cambogia, 40 miglia a N della capitale Phnom Penh e la marcia delle due brigate corazzate verso Udon Thani sembra inarrestabile.

    Mentre fervono i preparativi per l'invasione a Naga, per la quale Macarthur ha ottenuto la 4^ divisione marines, attualmente di stanza a Rabaul, nel sudest asiatico gli alleati dilagano in Cambogia e verso sud, in Malesia, dove incontrano scarsa resistenza.
    Anche la capitale Bangkok sarà presto liberata dalle ultime sacche di resistenza nemica.

    Dopo che nei giorni precedenti era stato avvistato un convoglio di petroliere in navigazione da Singapore verso NE e le CVE americane del sudovest pacifico di stanza a Manado erano state inviate nel Mar cinese meridionale per intercettarle, i giapponesi, avendo a loro volta avvistato il pericolo, avevano fatto rientrare nel porto di Saigon quel naviglio, nel tentativo di metterlo in salvo.
    Ma i bombardieri alleati della base di Moulmein, in un massiccio bombardamento della città, colpiscono le navi nemiche.

    Nel sudovest Pacifico, McArtur sostituisce tutti i comandi delle truppe impegnate nella conquista di Davao, assegnando loro leaders con punteggi alti, oltre che nel fattore "land" anche in quello "amministration", per cercare di far recuperare più velocemente il valore di "fatigue" delle loro truppe, finora sempre molto alto e con livelli di decrescita troppo lunghi.


    La flotta da bombardamento, nel frattempo, è stata inviata a Truk per rifornirsi completamente in vista del prossimo bombardamento navale del capoluogo dell'isola Filippina, che dovrà determinare il definitivo possesso di quell'importante porto.

    Nel tentativo di non far scoprire ai giapponesi il traffico della flotta di corazzate da Manado a Truk per il rifornimento, I quattro gruppi di portaerei di squadra, ora all'ancora nella rada di Manado (Celebes), lanciano un attacco alla base di aerea di Babeldaob, da dove eventuali ricognitori nemici potrebbero individuare i continui trasferimenti.

    All'alba del 15 dai ponti delle CV americane partono 4 squadriglie di bombardieri in picchiata e 8 squadriglie di caccia, 4 impegnate nella missione di sweep e 4 di scorta ai bombardieri.

    La missione si rivela un successo specialmente per quanto riguarda gli scontri di superiorità tra i caccia

    una domanda: perché non usi le BB in bombardamento notturno? , fai secco AF di notte e di giorno con le cv pulisci aeroporto con aerei a terra?
    poi con i 2E ogni giorno bombardi e fai scendere i supply e poi sbarchi in scioltezza?

    Hai ragione, ma al momento le BB sono tutte impegnate nei bombardamenti di Davao, dove si concentrano tutti gli sforzi per conquistare il porto, l'unico in zona che sia in grado (se portato al max size) di rifornire completamente le grandi navi (tipo appunto le BB, che ora, per fare un bombardamento efficace devono rifornire a Truk.
    Purtroppo è una questione di priorità, appunto. Una volta presa Davao la musica in questo settore cambierà.

    Gli USA dovrebbero avere navi appoggio che permettono il rifornimento in mare nel 1944, le AE mi pare si chiamino; comunque con le AKE è possibile rifornire di munizioni grosse navi anche in porti più piccoli.

    AKE non ne ho ... A Manado c'è un comando di flotta ... la V, credo, e il porto è pieno di AE, AD, AG cariche di supplies, ma non basta per rifornire completamente l'hells express: credo proprio ci voglia un porto size minimo 6.
    Teniamo conto che in rada lì ci sono 16 CV, 9 CVL e un numero enorme di CVE, con relative scorte ... quel porto è decisamente insufficiente per supportare quell'enorme flotta.
    Con le AE pochi turni fa ho provato a fare una TF replenish, carica di supplies e ho provato a rifornire in mare ... niente di fatto.
    Ancora questa possibilità non è data.

    Durante l'attacco, nel combat reply continuava ad apparire la scritta "Fuel cargo burning", ma io con l'inglese ci chiappo poco e posso aver capito fischi per fiaschi .. oltre tutto non credo che sulle AK possa essere imbarcato oil, a meno che i giapponesi non abbiano deroghe speciali a questa regola.

    Dopo un assedio durato 84 giorni, la base di Davao è finalmente nelle mani alleate. Resta ancora da assicurare l'esagono come ormai è consuetudine, visto che vi rimangono parecchi giapponesi; il cessate il fuoco definitivo dovrebbe essere comunque questione di poco tempo.
    Gia un reggimento di genio navale e un battaglione di sea bees sono in viaggio per raggiungere la città. Il loro compito sarà quello di rendere operativo il porto quanto prima possibile e in seguito ingrandirlo alla sua massima capacità.
    Qui troveranno appoggio le flotte che verranno impegnate nell'operazione Iceberg (l'assalto a Iwo Jima).

    Con l'ordine di imbarco delle truppe a Cotabato (Mindanao NO), entra in fase esecutiva l'operazione "Bulleye", con la quale il generale MacArthur intende porre una seria minaccia a Manila, sbarcando nella parte sudorientale dell'isola filippina di Luzon, a Naga.

    Anche se la ricognizione rivela uno scarso numero di difensori, nessuno si illude sul fatto che ci saranno da sudare le proverbiali sette camicie per strappare questo lembo di Filippine ai giapponesi e la mastodontica macchina che si è messa in moto è intesa a minimizzare quanto più possibile le perdite, puntando su quella che dovrebbe essere una schiacciante superiorità.

    BULLEYE - (Invasione di Luzon)

    I US CORPS - (MGEN Charles F. Thompson - L63/I65/Adm 75/Agg45/L71)

    Divisioni di fanteria: 7, 24, 25, 31, 33, 38 e 4 marines.
    8° Rgt genio combattente e due battaglioni di artiglieria (155 mm): 4 e 12 marines

    VII US AMPH. FORCE (RADM Daniel E. Barbey)
    160 navi tra trasporti (AKA, APA, LCI, LSD, LSV), scorte e sminatori (8DMS, 7AM) suddivise in tre TF. La prima (comandata dall'ammiraglio W. Brown e che dovrà scaricare a terra la prima ondata, forte di tre corazzate di vecchia generazione: Tennessee, Idaho e New York, per garantire continuo fuoco di soppressione e copertura durante gli assalti anfibi.

    VII US FLEET
    A disposizione i 4 gruppi di portaerei di squadra (16 CV, 9 CVL e scorte, 1918 aerei imbarcati), il gruppo di corazzate di nuova generazione per il bombardamento (10 BB, 2 CA, 7 CL, 6DD), un gruppo di portaerei CVE (7+ scorta) con soli caccia imbarcati per garantire la copertura aerea sopra le zone di sbarco.
