    D-DAY a Naga, nella parte meridionale dell'isola filippina di Luzon.

    Le truppe della prima ondata prendono terra in poco tempo, nonostante siano un numero impressionante di uomini, mezzi e rifornimenti.
    Purtroppo, come ormai spesso accade le perdite, specialmentre di mezzi e cannoni, sono provocate da errori nello sbarco, più che dal fuoco giapponese.

    A terra mancano ancora elementi (equipaggiamento pesante) delle divisioni di fanteria 7 e 24, la 31^ divisione di fanteria (al completo), il 18 reggimento zappatori e i due battaglioni di artiglieria (155) dei marines, 12° e 14°; queste ultime unità incominceranno a sbarcare sulle teste di ponte nella notte e l'attacco generale per la conquista della base sarà lanciato tra due giorni, in attesa che le truppe si riorganizzino.

    Si affaccia alla zona di operazioni l'intera forza aeronavale giapponese (o almeno così si presume) in rapido avvicinamento da NE.

    I gruppi di CV di squadra e la TF di portaerei di scorta, zeppe di hellcats in CAP 100% vengono rinforzati con due BB che in nottata avevano effettuato il bombardamento in preparazione allo sbarco. Così facendo si potenzia non di poco anche la capacità AA di ognuno.
    Tutte le portaerei e relativi gruppi vengono fatti convergere in rada davanti a Naga, in modo di concentrare tutta la CAP possibile, compresa quella di due squadriglie di P-47 di stanza a Cebu (60 miglia a O di Leyte),velocissimamente resa operativa nei giorni precedenti l'invasione.

    L'intento è quello di attirare le squadriglie d'attacco giapponesi in un punto dove sia praticamente impossibile passare, decimarle e poi passare al contrattacco.

    Si, intendevo proprio quello, ma ovviamente sono passati eccome ...
    Adesso piazzerò tutti i caccia in cap a 20.000 e voglio vedere...

    Quando ci sono i grossi strike qualcosa passa sempre, non esiste la CAP impenetrabile.
    Occhio che con la CAP a 20000 piedi se ti mette gli aerosiluranti a 2000 piedi non ne intercetti nemmeno uno

    Si ... mi chiedevo però che senso ha piazzare la CAP a quote variabili tra i 10000 e i 15000 piedi ... tanto vale piazzarne una gran parte sui 20000 (così tutto quello che arriva tra i 10 e i 20 k viene intercettato, e qualche stormo a 10 K, perchè se provano a passare gli aerosiluranti sotto (dovrebbero) essere resettati.
    Comunque la rabbia deve ancora sbollire ... la Wasp praticamente ai pesci, una CVL e una BB di nuova generazione seriamente danneggiate per gli USA nel 44 è un bello schiaffo.
    Dall'altra parte uno scempio di caccia e bombardieri ... ne sono passati veramente pochi ... e solo danni lievi alle CV nemiche.

    Oltre tutto tutti gli aerosiluranti hanno attaccato con bombe ... un disastro ...

    Il fatto che le sue Tf fossero in porto , anche se non dentro, erano nel'hex ?, può avere inciso nello scontro?

    La base è ancora giapponese, per cui non erano in porto, forse un malus lo hanno avuto perché erano in esagono misto. Il problema però non è tanto dove fossero ie mie tf, quanto tutti i bombardieri che la nutritissima cap ha lasciato passare, (come già successo) e invece i pochissimi miei bombardieri siano arrivati a sganciare sulle tf nemiche, polverizzati dalla cap giapponese.
    Non ho ancora voglia di analizzare il combat report, ma credo che l'attacco in massa a 15000 piedi, con una cap nemica posizionata in gran parte a 20000 sia stato un suicidio.
    Di contro tutta la mia cap settata sotto i 15000 piedi è stata bellamente ignorata.
    Nei prossimi giorni posterò gli estratti del combat report e vedremo di capire cosa è successo.

    Un'altra giornata storta per gli Stati Uniti nel pacifico.
    Se l'invasione di Naga si rivela meno complicata del previsto, con tutte le truppe a disposizione e un enorme numero di tonnellate di rifornimenti già sbarcati a terra, ancora una volta la marina e le sue portaerei le buscano dall'aviazione dell'ammiraglio Nagumo.

    @blizzard ... che ne pensi?
    Alcune considerazioni:

    1 - il mancato coordinamento in attacco può essere stato determinato dalle CV frazionate in 4 air TF; adesso ho radunato tutte in 2 air TF, sotto comandanti con air e nav skill alti;

    2 - credo che la maggior parte della CAP giapponese aspettasse a 20000 piedi e i miei gruppi d'attacco principali che arrivavano a 15000 piedi sono stati fatti a pezzi

    3 - La mia CAP era settata per la maggior parte fino a 15000 piedi, solo un paio di squadriglie di caccia hellcat erano a 20000; le squadriglie d'attacco giapponesi che sono arrivate a sganciare erano in avvicinamento tra i 17000 e i 20000 (corretto?), questo ha determinato lo svantaggio della CAP;

    4 - le mie TF erano in esagono misto terra-mare, questo ha causato sicuramente uno svantaggio, una volta che i bombardieri nemici sono passati.

    Resta da capire però, ancora una volta, come mai il cielo oscurato di caccia abbia lasciato passare un così alto numero di attaccanti ... :wall::wall::wall:.

    Che il suo raid fosse impostato tra 17000 e 20000 non ci metterei la mano sul fuoco, anzi, sarà stato a 15000.

    Che l'esagono abbia inciso sulla coordinazione possibile.

    Che il meteo abbia influito sulla battaglia molto probabile, tu avevi sereno , lui storm ?

    Ma i siluranti a 15000 è corretto?

    A questo punto non ho più certezze ... però sono più propenso a pensare che sia stata la distanza (7 esa) a determinare il fatto che siano stati armati con bombe anzichè siluri.
    A maggior ragione se i siluranti giap stavano arrivando a 15000 ... loro i siluri li avevano ... probabilmente hanno autonomie più elevate.

    Dici? ma una volta in aria i caccia della CAP non dovrebbero risentire del fatto che sotto di loro c'è mare o terra ... chiaramente questa è una cosa dettata dal buon senso, ma in WitPAE bisogna evitare di usarlo. Ovviamente il malus per esagono misto ci sta tutto: le navi sotto attacco aereo fanno fatica a manovrare, almeno sempre in teoria ...

    Hmmm ... la maggior parte della mia CAP era settata intorno ai 15000 ... e si tratta di 700 aerei ... li avrei polverizzati ...

    Devo dire francamente che non ci ho fatto caso ... probabilmente ha influito, si.

    La CAP USA in gran parte non ha partecipato alla difesa; 700 caccia erano disponibili teoricamente ma solo poco più di un terzo sono stati efficacemente utilizzati.
    Lo strike nemico principale è stato avvistato a 120 nn , una grande distanza, i radar dell'USN hanno funzionato alla grande. I caccia USA avevano ben 31 minuti di tempo per intercettare prima che lo strike fosse sulle proprie teste. I jill è i jude sono aerei molto veloci (più degli omologhi USA) ma il tempo a disposizione era comunque sufficiente se la CAP fosse stata nell'hex. Un hellcat sale 3500 piedi al minuto, per arrivare a 15k - 20k (altitudine dello strike) non ci mette più di 5 o 6 minuti.
    Ma se guardi il report il tempo per intervenire di tutte le tue squadriglie caccia era enorme , 27...28 ... 33...34 ...minuti invece dei 5 o 6 minuti teorici. :eek:
    Quelle squadriglie che arrivano dopo 31 minuti vuol dire che arrivano troppo tardi ed è come se non ci fossero, quelle che arrivano a 28 minuti vuol dire che hanno solo 3 minuti per ingaggiare i giappi, al massimo riescono a fare una passata.
    In pratica la tua CAP ha partecipato con i soli caccia che erano già in volo, un terzo circa, gli altri due terzi in standby non sono arrivati in tempo.:whistle:
    Domanda 1: a quanti hex di range era impostata la tua CAP di difesa? :rolleyes:
    Domanda 2: Hai diviso le squadriglie di caccia specializzandole in difesa e scorta (= differenziandole per range)? :cautious:

    Gli avenger NON hanno attaccato con i siluri perché erano sicuramente erano in extended range (e quindi non avevano sufficiente autonomia per trasportare i siluri e si sono dovuti accontentare delle bombe che, sganciate da 15000 piedi non hanno nessuna speranza di centrare l'obiettivo). Se riguardi a pag 3 del tuo AAR c'è una mia spiegazione di che distanza settare per il range per far partire lo strike tutto insieme con il max carico bellico.

    Rigorosamente a 0 e CAP 80% a quote variabili tra i 10 e 15K ft, a parte un paio a 20k ft

    edit: c'erano anche 6 squadriglie di caccia hellcat di altrettante CVE presenti nell'esagono tutti in CAP 100% range 0 altitudini miste tra 10000 e 16000 FT

    Assolutamente si. I caccia di scorta erano settati escort, niente CAP, range 7, 15000 ft, esattamente come i bombardieri.

    A parte il raggio dei siluranti (che non si riesce mai a capire, vacca boia!!) credo che il resto fosse settato correttamente ...

    7 esagoni sono ext range per gli avenger? Con i serbatoi supplementari arrivano a 11. Ero convinto che a 7 potessero portare il max carico bellico ... non era così evidentemente ...

    Edit.: nella scheda dell'aereo dove sta scritto il raggio max carico bellico?

    Posta una schermata di una squadriglia di avenger e anche una di hellcat.

    Questa cosa degli hellcat che non fanno in tempo ad intervenire vorrei capirla.
    I caccia giapponesi in CAP in 23-24 minuti mediamente erano addosso ai tuoi attaccanti. Mentre il tempo medio degli hellcat in CAP per intervenire è stato sui 30 minuti.

    Per gli Avenger il normal radius senza serbatoi supplementari (not using drop tanks) come nel tuo caso è 6 hex.
    In pratica fino a 6 hex compresi porta il massimo carico cioè il siluro.
    Nell'extended radius (7 o 8 hex ) monta le bombe (anche se hai selezionato i siluri).
    Se setti il maximum range a 7 vuol dire che se per caso lo scontro avviene a 7hex avrai solo le bombe.
    Il trucco (che ti è mancato) era montare anche i serbatoi supplementari (drop tanks), così il normal range aumenta, e riesci a montare i siluri anche a 7 hex.
    Con i drop tanks consumi due sortite per aereo al posto di una ma chisseneimporta, le battaglie aeronavale sono one shot, si spende tutto in un unico scontro.

    Per gli hellcat i settaggi sono perfetti, ora o non ce la fanno proprio ad arrivare in tempo quelli in standby (gli altri già in volo hanno fatto benissimo) perché hanno una velocità di salita troppo lenta (se posti il dettaglio con i parametri dell'aereo lo vediamo, sarebbe utile vedere in confronto anche quelli degli zero A6m5 che invece sono arrivati in tempo per capire la differenza).
    Oppure entra in gioco la limitazione del numero massimo degli scontri aerei per una battaglia, è codificata a programma e più di quel numero non se ne riescono a fare, sono 300 (?) scontri se non ricordo male.
    Questo vuol dire che una CAP più grossa di un certo numero è inutile in quanto la parte eccedente il limite non interverrà mai.

    Hai fatto gli aggiornamenti AA alle navi? Mi sembra che la flak ha tirato giu troppo poca roba, avrebbe dovuto fare una strage...
