WW2 Map (0.12e)
A Map Editor for SP World War II/MBT

Version 0.12e
This version adds a couple of minor buttons to the Import screen. You won't have to do anything to this if you want to keep things the same as they were. If you reduce the Per Cent to less than 100 (say 90%) then you will get the item in the Second box added to about 10% (2 file) of the of the First (1 file). Of course you can change these to what ever you please. The last box in the line is whether or not to put a border around it (be sure to use "Y" as the only thing that means yes). I have been thinking about a thing to put various squares on each level. There are too many to list on one sheet and we probably want them filed. What do you think?

Version 0.12d
Please forgive me for the somewhat broken version 0.12c. The 4-color mode is fixed now. In addition, I added colors to go as high as 16 in the colored mode. You can see from my New_a.bmp map I did not go higher than color 6 in trying it out. There are at various colors:
Water - 0xFF0000 (255 000 000)
 0 - 0x000080 (000 000 128)
 1 - 0x0000A0 (000 000 160)
 2 - 0x0000C0 (000 000 192)
 3 - 0x0000FF (000 000 255)
 4 - 0x006060 (000 096 096)
 5 - 0x008080 (000 128 128)
 6 - 0x00A080 (000 160 128)
 7 - 0x00C080 (000 192 128)
 8 - 0x00FF80 (000 255 128)
 9 - 0x806060 (128 096 096)
10 - 0x808080 (128 128 128)
11 - 0x8080A0 (128 128 160)
12 - 0x8080C0 (128 128 192)
13 - 0x8080FF (128 128 255)
14 - 0x80A080 (128 160 128)
15 - 0x80C080 (128 192 128)
16 - 0x80FF80 (128 255 128)
(I hope the conversion is correct.)

In addition to the colors, I have added two fields to cover the file type to be used for the First tiles and the Slope tiles. There are appoximately 100 types of terrain but not all of them are useable. Try 3 or 21 instead of 1 as nice examples. I may add more to this if there is any demand. Either files for each terrain type (color) or a division between terrain types in a field or maybe both.

Here is how to use the Alt 16 button:
a. It is up to you to prepare a test image file (I have included the file New_a.bmp).
b. Start WW2Map.exe
c. Load a plain map (I include CLRWW2v3.dat as a 100x80 example).
d. Use the Files/Set Shp Directory if you have a strange location for the shp file.
e. Tools/Import from Bitmap to start generation step.

f. Use the Load Bmp button to load a map terrain button. (For example New_a.bmp.)

g. Adjust the two fields First and Slope if you want them to point to other files.

h. Press the Alt 0-16 button.

i. Scroll the map to the right.

j. Use Files/Save Map to save a map named SPMAPxxx.dat or redo

I hope that there are a couple of users.

Version 0.12c
Tools\Import from Bitmap took me longer than expected but here is a version which really fixes altitude in this version. (Only altitudes -2 to 40 so far.) The problem was with section 8 higher altitude at offset 0 not at 4 and with section 28 having one byte not 2 bytes to indicate to the Win program that it use the bytes for what I don't known. Let me know if it works or not. I plan on adding higher altitudes and a couple of hex boxes to hold the box type and maybe a percentage that is covered. Write to me.

Version 0.12b
I added some lines which allow a large scale map to be saved in two halves. First select Files|Save Top Half with the top cursor at 0,0. Do the cursor to 100,0 at the left side. Then pick select Files|Save Bottom Half.

The sizes of the Options|Strat Map and Tools|Contour Map are correct.

I have added a button (Option|Change Hex Color)to allow the color of the hexes to be changed.

The Terrain works properly in Tools|Import from Bitmap. I have not yet found it. Does anyone care???

I have looked at the Editor file in the version of MBT which comes with the program. I CAN SEE NO PROBLEMS WITH IT. The only parts that I might change is a list of the tanks, infantry and so forth.

Version 0.12a
The sizes now check, i.e. 100x40 to 200x160.

I have added Files|Save bmp as a different means to save bmp. I don't know how this will work out you machine. On my machine it saves all but the biggest, i.e. spmap00.dat works. You can make this a smaller file with, for example, IrfanView. (If you don't have this program, you may get it free.)

Version 0.12
What excuse do I have? I forgot a little delete and that why the program kept crashing.

Version 0.11
It has been a long time coming. The only thing I checked for in this, is that a file is loaded and saved the same i.e. spmap01.dat is saved as map01.dat. You will want to move the icons from where they are (Game Data\Graphics) to a new directory called Shp directly below the WW2Map program. That is, copy the files name Terxxz4.shp to the new file.

Things look okay. I am not sure they will translate well to MBT. PLEASE!!! write to me so that I am aware of what you want. My first step will be to get in touch with Don Goodbrand. He has pointed out the need some of you have had for this type of program.
